Botox Q & A
What is Botox?
Botox is a cosmetic injection that temporarily reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face. Dr. Dimowo is an aesthetic expert and utilizes three brands of Botox, including:
Botox Cosmetic
Xeomin®
Dysport®
Both Xeomin and Dysport are used to treat moderate to severe frown lines, while Botox Cosmetic is used to treat crow’s-feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. The best Botox injection for you may depend on your aesthetic goals.
How does Botox work?
Botox works by temporarily stopping the movement of the muscle under your skin. Facial expressions cause your skin to create folds, which over time turn into noticeable lines and creases.
By halting the muscle movement, Botox stops the creation of the folds, which helps smooth out lines and wrinkles.
Repeated Botox injections help to thin out the muscle under your skin, which may further enhance the effects.
Do Botox injections hurt?
You may feel a slight pinch during your Botox injections. However, the needles used for cosmetic treatment are very small and the dose of the medication used is minimal. Most people find the injections tolerable and don’t require an anesthetic.
Dr. Dimowo is a skilled aesthetician and can complete your injections quickly and effectively to minimize pain and anxiety. You may notice some redness at the injection site, but you can cover up the side effects with makeup.
While there’s no downtime following Botox injections, you may want to delay your workout for at least two hours following your injections.
You should notice an improvement in your look within 24 hours after your injections. Dr. Dimowo knows exactly where to place your injections to give you a refreshed look without making your face look frozen or fake.
How long does Botox last?
The length of your Botox injections may depend on the type of Botox used. In general, you should expect the effects to last three to six months. As noted above, repeated injections may prolong the effects of your treatment.
